Motivational Mondays.

| Inspiration for today |

Happy 1st Day of Autumn!! Fall is my favorite time of year & fashion season. I know I was on hiatus with the blog this summer. It's hard keeping up when you have 4 weddings in a month, while jet-setting to the West Coast touring all of California & Reno in a week then heading to Montreal for a cousin's wedding. I can't complain because my two week vacation was amazingly well spent with Jonathan, our wonderful families & friends. But I'm planning to get back in the swing of things this fall with more updates, fashion updates & definitely more outfit posts. I can't wait for nice, crisp mornings; foilage, hiking & outdoor adventures and chilly nights with lots of layering. Stay tuned.

Baddie Bey.

I'm heading to Philly for July 4th weekend w. the NYC.VA Connection for the On The Run Tour. Talk about a POWER COUPLE, I'm mad hyped to see Baddie Bey & HOV (again). Here are my simple picks for Concert Style inspired by this weekend's concert. I'd probably add my own spin on the Third Ward tee & turn it into a muscle tee with the black bralette showing on the sides. Forget a purse or wristlet & rock a fanny pack instead. This fanny pack is simple yet stylish & the perfect size so keep your accessories to a minimum. All you need is money, your cell phone & of course, lipstick. For footwear, ladies drop the stilettos! My suggestion, wear sandals, wedges (if they're comfy) or be stylish with combat boots. As for everything else, it is up to you.

Featuring the DMV's very own local brand, DCTWENTYONE.

Their Mission Statement:
"Washington D.C. is one of the most historically influential cities of the world and home to the celebrated HOGS and their steadfast faithful fans. Our grassroots brand serves as a commemorative platform to honor the beloved memory and exemplar professional legacy of our late icon.  We invite ‘Skins loyalists to embrace our voice of adoration for the highly venerated 21. As we remember an illustrious career, which was prematurely ended in tragedy, we transpose our indebted sense of reverence for our past into a rousing rallying cry for onward pursuit of imminent Super Bowl greatness." -dctwentyone

DCTWENTYONE is a local brand that has created apparel for die-hard Redskins fans. Their apparel also caters to DC fans who love supporting the home team. One thing that sets DCTWENTYONE apart from other brands that represent the Redskins is that their designs are one-of-a-kind. How often do you see dope and trendy Redskins shirts that don't just illustrate the traditional trademarked logo? DCTWENTYONE has created a way to showcase their unique designs that honors and shows love to the Redskins and Washington, D.C. but also pays tribute to the late, Sean Taylor (21). Their first run dropped on May 29th which featured the Commemoration Tank, the Veneration Shirt and stickers. DCTWENTYONE has also been featured on HTTR4life.com and on BurgundyBlog.com. They have more designs coming out Summer '14 so be sure to be on the lookout for that! Skins/DC fans, I promise you, you WILL NOT be disappointed.

Festival Style: Coachella Ed.

With Coachella right around the corner (16 days to be exact), I thought I'd put together my picks for festival wear. One thing I love about festival season (let alone summer), is that it brings out my inner bohemian & hipster style. Layering pieces, arm parties & bands, distressed cutoffs, lace, crop tops, gladiators w. flower crowns, headpieces & turbans to top off my look. As everyone knows, Free People is ALWAYS my go-to for bohemian chic. I know that it's not always the most affordable but the great thing about any boho hipster style is that you can mix & match & layer. I love seeing how eclectic peoples' styles are at Coachella. Everyone pulls out all the stops to achieve and showcase their best festival styles & looks. Listed below are some of my Coachella Ed. festival style picks.

Aura Coin Headpiece: Harvey Nichols
Straw Fedora: AE
Flower Crown: Boticca
Black Lace Bralette: AE
Light Distressed Cutoffs: Body Central
Rosary Necklace: Overstock.Com
Chevron Necklace: AE
Arm Cuff: Asos
Evil Eye Bracelet:Rachel Roy
Multiple Strand Bracelet: Ooakjewelz
White Lace Top: Topshop
Dolphin Hem Cutoff: Free People
Romana Floral Gladiators: Jeffrey Campbell
5 Zip Mini Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff

Polo Ralph.

I love Menswear! Who doesn't? Leave it to Ralph! Ralph Lauren kills it with his Polo Great Outdoors Collection. The combination of vibrant serape prints mixed in with cozy Southwestern-inspirations and an added touch of chambray just makes this collection rustic and flawless. Layer layer layer! You can never go wrong with layering and these prints and color combinations make it effortless. What I like about this collection is that it completely breaks free from the classic yet standard Polo preppy style. Here are a few key pieces from the Great Outdoors collection that I absolutely love.

Shawl- Collar Serape Cardigan- $695

Custom-Fit Western Chambray- $125

DC Day.

#CANDID

This polar vortex just won't quit. Taking a look back at J's & my DC date 2 weekends ago w. amazingly gorgeous weather. We started our day at the Corcoran Gallery of Art which was something I really wanted to check out before it closes. {On Feb. 19th, the Corcoran had announced that their museum would be closing & taken over by the National Art Gallery & GWU.} The Salon Dore was my favorite part of the gallery w. it's enormous glass mirrors, intricately carved paneling & beautiful ceiling murals all covered in white & gold. The Salon Dore looked like it was taken right out of the Palace of Versailles. It's no MoMA {Museum of Modern Art; NYC}, but another DC favorite of mine is the Hirsshorn Museum & Sculpture Garden on Independence. You should check it out if you have a chance! With the Corcoran's location right on 17th Street NW, we decided to stroll down a couple blocks to the World War II Memorial. After soaking up all the sun & sights, we made our way to Georgetown for a little bit of shopping & grabbed a bite to eat at CafĂ© Asia in Rosslyn.

Laced-Up Combats.

Laced-Up Combats.

Combat Boots are my absolute favorite! You can honestly never have too many. Said by the girl who has about 5 or 6 pairs in different styles & colors. Two of my favorite laced-up combats are Steve Maddens. He always comes out with the best styles & details for boots. I truly am a sucker for any type of studded and/or gold detailed footwear. Patent leather is an added plus. Basically, anything that makes boots turn heads & stand out. Printed boots, whether floral or tribal, often catch my eye. Printed lining is also key if you decide you want to rock the folded-over boot look. I recently purchased the Steve Madden Troopale Boots which I've had my eye on & love. {I'm currently wearing them as we speak} The boots are a very simple black leather with laces & gold detailed heels. You can easily pair them w. your favorite pair of leggings, dark denim, harem pants/sweats or even distressed shorts. I've listed below some picks for combat boots, with different styles & color. Steve Madden & Jeffrey Campbell's are in your usual $100-$200+ range while the other styles I've chosen are surprisingly inexpensive. You'll also be surprised where I found some of these boots.

1| Troopale Bootie: Steve Madden
2| Denim Floral Printed Combat Boot: Aeropostale  {shocker, I know!}
3| Rosie Cutout Combat Boot: Jeffrey Campbell
4| Dr. Martens, 1460 Boot: Nordstrom
5| Troopa Boot: Steve Madden {the dark green & denim leather kill it}
6| Cutout Combat Boot: Pink & Pepper
7| Nessie Combat Boot: Sole Society {Rhino Grey}
8| Khalea Combat Boot: Mossimo Supply Co. {Target}

Daily Inspiration.

KEEP GOING! STAY MOTIVATED. #healthylifestyle

Start living a healthier lifestyle. I read it takes 4 weeks for you to see body changes, it takes 8 weeks for friends & family, && it takes 12 weeks for the rest of the world. So keep at it & keep on going! Like most people, you tell yourself you're going to start going to the gym, eat healthier, workout more, go running, do this & do that. At first, you're off to a great start & you're on the constant grind. But of course, life ALWAYS gets in the way & then we start making excuses. "Tomorrow" is the best excuse. Next thing you know, you're set back days to weeks to months.

As of late, I've been working out daily (twice a day if I can) & eating clean. (Thanks to J, who's my constant motivator!) He's constantly pushing me to do "one more" just when I'm tired & don't want to do anymore. He's always challenging me. Water has also become my new best friend. I'm honestly proud of what I've accomplished these past couple weeks & the progress I've made. I'm constantly surprising myself with my strength and my capabilities. The best part of it all, is that it's just the beginning.

I've also stopped eating past 7PM. For a girl who likes to eat, TRUST, it was a struggle at first. I'm no fitness model/guru & I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm on my journey to reaching my goal. There's no better time than the present to start working towards your personal goals. It's crazy how amazing you feel after eating healthier/clean, working out & cutting out all the fried food & junk food. This works for ME but do what works for YOU.

Progression is being made. I'm not doing this for anyone else but myself. So, NO, you will not see any body/tummy pics. {But props to those who are working out, who've made progress && are looking fly.}

Consistency is Key. Self- control is a Must. Every little bit counts. SO MAKE IT COUNT!

"HOLY SHIT, I JUST DID."
This is MY daily inspiration.
